Dallas Half Marathon COMING SOON!

I will be running umm jogging crawling my way through a half marathon in Dallas next weekend. What was I thinking when I signed up? I was on a post-marathon (delusional) high last month after New Orleans. I was thinking that I would be speedy and would be ready to set a new personal record at my next race. Yeah right. That is sooo not happening.

At this point I will just be thankful to finish the race and get a medal. It may take me the full 4 hours. I'm running with my cousin because my husband will be working hard that weekend. Poor guy. The running plan is run two miles, walk 0.5 miles, repeat until I reach the finish line or the paramedics carry me from the course... whichever comes first.

Every time I've tried to run for the past two weeks, I have excruciating knee and hip pain and I'm convinced that I'm developing ITB syndrome. This week I will try some new stretches and hope I can run more than 3 miles at a time without crying. I'm also convinced that my yoga class is the cause of this pain. Hello warrior 1 and warrior 2 pose, I hate you. You broke my body. Stupid yoga class. Do runners REALLY need to be flexible? I only need to be able to put one foot in front of the other without crying. And I can't do that since yoga. It must be yoga's fault. Right?

Is anyone out there running the Dallas Rock and Roll Half Marathon?

How cool that you will be in Dallas! I almost ran the rock n roll but ended up signing up for one in May in Dallas instead...darn! You can do it!

You know, I had the hardest time with hip and pelvic pain when I started running again after having Lila. The chiropractor did wonders and not in a scary pop kind of way but more of muscle release. I think if you can find a good sports related one, it is worth every penny.

Ok, gonna email you. Maybe I can come cheer you on :)

Ugh, I am so sorry to hear that you’ve been experiencing pain when you’re running. I hope that you heal and the issue goes away. I’m clueless when it comes to this stuff, so I’m zero help.

I know you’ll make it through the race and get that medal!
