Meet my friend Jennifer! We have been friends since the 6th grade and she's a friend that always makes me laugh. We find silly things to giggle about every time we're together. We would ALWAYS get in trouble in middle school and high school because we were always laughing about something. There is really nothing like an old friend! She knows everything about me and still tolerates me, right Jen?
We rode the boats on the riverwalk downtown and enjoyed a quick guided tour of the city. Her little boy was fascinated with the ducks in the water and kept pointing to things and jabbering away in his own 1 year old language. He understood exactly what he was saying but we just had to nod and smile and agree with him.
We walked to the San Antonio Market Square that is a few blocks from riverwalk and enjoyed looking at all the hand made, colorful souvenirs, pottery, and decorations. We saw many historical buildings on our walk. Our giggle fit of this trip was our inability to find "the Spanish governor's palace" because every sign for it pointed to a different building. So we still don't know which one it was.
Remember the Alamo? Here we are in front of it. I wonder how many times I will take pictures in front of the Alamo? My guess is around 47 billion.
My friend's husband was served a mass of chicken friend steak at the Canyon Cafe. This was the lunch portion!!! Needless to say, he couldn't finish it all.
The girls opted for the fish tacos while he was up to his elbows in fried goodness.
Gotta love the fish tacos at the Canyon Cafe! Yum!
The most important part of a trip to San Antonio must be The Margarita. Forget the Alamo, the riverwalk, and the 300 + years of history here. Every trip to San Antonio should involve one of these...
Everyone who comes to San Antonio MUST have a margarita at La Fogada! The twin towers margarita comes with two little test tubes of "something extra" for the margarita. It evens comes with a pretty flower floating on top of the goodness. Hands down, this is the best margarita in San Antonio. Does anyone disagree? I have made it my personal mission to find the best margarita in San Antonio and this is the current winner!
The patio at La Fogada is so nice! With a combination of fountains, flowers, perfect weather, margaritas, and good friends, there is no better place for dinner!
My friend and her husband enjoyed pizza at Grimaldi's on their trip.
Their son enjoyed playing with the pizza dough that the very thoughtful waitress brought him. Thank God for pizza dough. He was entertained for the entire hour we were at the restaurant! This little guy LOVED the stairs at our house. Who needs toys when there are stairs to climb? Of course I was a nervous wreck worrying that he would fall but he managed to scoot and climb up and down the stairs dozens of times without injury. Whew! By the end of the week, he could kind of say "Alamo" but it sounded like "ah-mah-oh" than "Alamo". He's so cute and adventurous!
It was a great to see my friend and her family and I think they enjoyed their vacation.
