I made brownies and ate most of them. Betty Crocker fudge mix. Holy chocolate goodness.
My husband worked all day and night on Saturday but I was able to see him for lunch and dinner. He wasn't too busy so it was nice to eat a couple of meals together.
We tried a new church on Sunday morning. We were Baptists this week. Finding the perfect church is always tough. The pastor seemed nice, the message was good, but everyone there was old. Is it bad that I whispered to my husband during the service, "I don't know if any of these people will be our friends." Where are all the young, fun, Christians in San Antonio? Are they at the mega churches with the 2 story tall movie screens? I don't want to go to a rock concert on Sunday morning. I am entertained every other minute of the week... I can be reverent for an hour. But I also want to make friends who are younger than 70 years old. Maybe we will be Methodists next week?
What's the difference between a Baptist and a Methodist? The Methodist parks in front of the liquor store and the Baptist parks behind it. True, yes?
We joined a gym! It's the most beautiful, most amazing gym I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams! There is a SPA in it! That's right, I said SPA!!! We did a long run for the first time in weeks and felt good. I was getting really discouraged running outside because it's so hot. I have only been able to run about 3 miles outside and feel like I will die by the end of the run. Thank goodness for treadmills! We're going for our free fitness assessment tonight. I'm pretty nervous about that since we haven't been exercising regularly.
As for the mission to make new friends in the new city, I found a running club online so we're going for our first group run tomorrow night.
MAD MEN is back ON!!! I have been in withdrawls since the season 3 finale so I got my Don Draper fix last night!
The job search seriously begins this week. HR departments... look out... I'm coming to find you!

Ask your running club friends for a church rec. Most runners are crazy and fun, so if they have a good church rec. you should be set :)
That is definitely the hardest part about moving. One easy thing about being Catholic? Mass and church are pretty much the same everywhere!
Oooh and your gym sounds uber fancy! I would workout more, I think, if I had a really cool gym to go to. Somehow, the 80 year olds and the treadmills that are older than me hold less appeal....
Josiah and I went through that awful church hunt last year when we moved to VA. Not fun! But definitely don't settle but remember that there is no perfect church.
That being said, did you go to First Baptist San Antonio? That's where I went when I served as a summer missionary down there, and really loved it. It is a solid, missions-oriented church with some really great people. A LOT bigger than I was ever used to, but I still liked it a lot.
Hope you find something good soon!
Love the quote at the top of your blog! And how incredible to have a spa in your gym! that's motivation enough to get in shape - or at least get to the gym :) We are moving in a couple of weeks, and joining a work out group sounds like a great way to make friends - thanks for the idea!
I am glad you guys are finding some places you like =) I am sure 70 year olds would be your friends you guys rock ...
