On the Friday before our wedding, my friends and I decorated the church, did a very disorganized wedding rehearsal that completely stressed me out, but we got through the rehearsal. All my bridesmaids were wonderful. I love these girls!
Then we had a low key Hawaii themed rehearsal dinner in one of the private rooms at the Bricktown Brewery in Oklahoma City. My husband was SO happy that he got to wear his Hawaiian shirt. The Brewery is a restaurant with a bar upstairs in an old warehouse in the downtown area. It has a relaxed atmosphere and it's a fun place to hang out on any night of the week. It was super casual, everyone had fun, and my dad and my husband's grandma both wore a grass hula skirt at some point during the evening. Dad even has the coconut bra with the grass skirt. He never takes himself too seriously. See the pictures? I guess it's no longer blackmail material if I'm putting it on the blog.
I'm pretty sure mom's eyes are closed here but these two are lots of fun.
Our wedding day was perfect. When the back doors of the church were opened and my dad walked me down the aisle, I saw my husband standing at the front of the church and I can't think of any other single moment in my life when I felt so much love at one time. All of our family and friends were there and we had a perfect day sharing that experience with everyone.
The ceremony was formal and traditional, we took that process seriously and wanted it to be a religious occasion. We said the standard and traditional vows. We had a harpist play "Victory in Jesus" and accompany a singer for "Ave Maria". There were scripture readings: Ruth 1:16 & 1 Corinthians 13. It was perfect, happy, and lovely.
The wedding reception was FUN! There was a DJ, dancing, decent food, and a bar. (White people need a little help with their dance moves!)
We danced to "At Last" by Etta James for our first dance.
We did the toast (the try not to spill champagne down the front of your wedding dress while locking arms in front all your wedding guests) with the glasses my parents used at their wedding reception in 1976! Their wedding anniversary is a day after ours! Happy Anniversary to Mom and Dad too!!!)
Happy Anniversary Scott! Cheers to you, our life together, and the years to come!

Your wedding day sounds and looks beautiful. I so wanted to dance to “At Last” but Geof vetoed that :( That is so cute that you guys used your parents champagne glasses. I love that idea.

Happy Anniversary! And what a great inspiration you are over on Chloe's blog right now!
Good luck with your upcoming races and good luck getting into Houston now that they have a lottery. If we both get in, maybe I'll see you there.
