Celebrating a life

My husband and I have been in Oklahoma for the past few days for the memorial service for his step dad. He passed away in his sleep on Memorial Day. The memorial service to celebrate his life was on Friday afternoon and it was a beautiful and moving celebration of an incredible man.

These are the things I wish I could have said to his step dad:

Thank you for teaching my husband how to play golf.

Thank you for teaching him how to drive a standard.

Thank you for teaching him how to care for others.

Thank you for encouraging him.

Thank you for loving my husband as though he were your own child.

Thank you for being a patient father.

And last but not least, Thank you for showing both of us that you are never too old to have a good time.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

We are going to miss him.
