Meet Neko, a happy, friendly, beautiful boy.
He's a 6 year old pure bred Siberian Husky. He needs a home.
Here's Neko's sad story...
My husband and I were walking our two Dobermans two nights ago when we saw Neko wandering our neighborhood. He had a collar with a Home Again pet ID tag. We called the number on the tag and got in touch with his "owners" who got our address and agreed to meet us to pick him up in 10 minutes. About 4 hours later, we still had their dog. We called again and they finally agreed to come get him. (His "owners" live about a mile down the street from us).
When the guy showed up, he was covered in tattoos and smelled like pot. We gave him his dog and he "jokingly" asked if we wanted to keep Neko. We told him we already had two big dogs so probably not.
The next day my husband called me and said "Guess who is in our yard again." Only this time Neko didn't have his collar on. It was not loose the day before, so his owners took his collar off in hopes that he wouldn't come back home again. We still had their number so we called them to come get him again. They said they didn't want him and that we could keep him. What a couple of scumbags.
How sad is that?! The guy got Neko as a puppy as a gift from his wife at the time. They had him 6 years. Then they got divorced. The guy shacked up with his new girlfriend who lives on our street. And now no one wants Neko. Breaks. My. Heart.
Since we already have two giant Dobermans, we REALLY need to find him a home. Do you know anyone in the Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee area who would give him a good home? My husband and I will only let him go to someone with references from a vet who will give him proper care for his entire life. A dog is a LIFETIME commitment. The way people can discard an animal is horrible.
Please help Neko find a home!

Don't people like that make you all warm and fuzzy inside? :( We can't take a dog right now, but I will post a link to your blog on my page, to help get the word out.
Oh my gosh, I can't believe that!! This story breaks my heart! Thank you so much for taking responsibility and ensuring he goes to a good home! I hope a loving family snags him up SOON!!
It's people like that, that make me want to go a little postal on them. I just helped place a huskey not too long ago, and I exhausted every avenue. I live in MN, so I'm quite a distance away, but I would check into rescue organizations specifically for huskeys and see if they have any suggestions as far as placing him. He is beautiful, though.
You are good peeps for taking care of him.
That is so sad! I wish I could take him. I love Huskies. But I already have one very large German Shepard.
His story is so sad. Neko looks like such a sweet boy! I saw this on Emily's blog, and I'll post it on mine as well. I've got my hands full with two big dogs and a cat. At least Neko ran into the yard of two such nice people!
I saw this on Emily's blog but can't do it.
That is sad.
Oh Tasha, this breaks my heart. I just saw this on Emily's blog. I had no idea you guys had him. I know I'm in Philadelphia, but I will try and post this on my blog tomorrow and see if there are any readers down south that might be interested.
Can you also try Craig's List and state that you want references?
The way people can toss an animal out on the street like it's nothing makes me sick inside. What horrible people. I think you're wonderful for taking him in for the time being.
I'm happy you ended up keeping Neko. I just can't believe the owner is such a SCUMBAG!
At least he'll be loved, wanted and taken care of now.
Oh my goodness. That makes me sooo angry. Poor Neko! I want him so bad...but considering the uncertainty in my life right now, there is no way I could be responsible for a dog. I think you should go over to that man's house and give him a solid punch to the groin...dogs don't deserve to be treated like that! Especially those as cute as Neko!
