The 4 legged source of destruction

Our dog Sheba ate part of a raincoat. This is the dog who eats EVERYTHING:

  • rocks
  • tree bark
  • furniture
  • string
  • sofa cushions
  • oriental rugs
  • drier sheets
  • chain link fences
  • socks
  • flip flops
  • magazines
  • anything that is left unattended within her reach.

This is the dog that cost us a fortune two summers ago because of emergency surgery. She ate some plastic coated cardboard that became lodged one foot into her small intestine. After a few days of recovery and part of our life savings, she was fine.

The most recent snack of choice was a raincoat. At least it was one of those disposable raincoats. I left it on the bedroom floor because I forgot to put back into my suitcase when I unpacked from the trip. Everything was quiet (which is an immediate alarm that Sheba is up to something). No barking or whining or sounds of spastic Doberman running back and forth through the house is always a cause for concern. I went to the back porch and saw her with plastic surrounding her. Shredded plastic was everywhere! She was wagging her little nubbin tail and was so proud of her latest "kill." She really showed that raincoat who was boss. I'm just hoping she didn't eat much of it before I caught her!

We are definitely lucky...Vito doesn't eat anything (even if we leave trash in a bag on the floor!)

But we had another doxie, Francis, who used to eat everything. we lived in boston and would walk him on the city streets, he was a sidewalk vacuum – tea bags, pizza crusts, plastic toys, you name it.

Chase likes to destoy toys mainly. He especially loves getting to the thread of rope toys. Rubber rings he chews until he can bite pieces of rubber off. His nylabone is the one toy that has actually lasted, so I feel your pain!

I love the name Sheba and hopefully she didn't eat too much of the raincoat.

Yep, that is King Arthur. He cost us a small fortune last summer after eating a throw pillow. Mind you, he was 14lbs at the time.

He also really enjoys candles, wood (aka our furniture), anything paper (he likes digging in the trash), shoes, magazines, books, and every blanket i have ever put in his crate. He is a mess...
